Research
At EHHOP, we care deeply about conducting research that has a positive impact on our patients and the communities they call home. All students at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) are eligible to conduct research at EHHOP, so long as their project is implemented with the best interests of our patients, their communities, and our clinic at heart.
Our projects vary in scope, and include quality improvement (QI), clinic operations, patient outcomes/satisfaction, and community-based participatory research (CBPR). Our projects aim to answer the following questions:
How can we improve the structure and flow of our clinic in a way that is meaningful for our patients?
What changes can our clinicians make to improve our patients’ health?
What additional services can EHHOP provide to better meet the needs of our patients?
How can we, as a clinic, better partner with the East Harlem community?
What can we learn from our patients and operations at EHHOP to teach other clinics that are similar to us?
...and many, many more!
If you are...
An ISMMS student interested in participating in research at EHHOP
A peer clinic interested in our work
One of our awe-inspiring patients curious to learn more
A physician from Mount Sinai or a peer institution interested in mentoring our student researchers
An East Harlem community member or community-based organization (CBO) interested in partnering with us, or learning more
...please feel free to contact our Research Chair (Nicole Zatorski) and Coordinator (Emily Xu) to learn more. We can be reached at ehhop.research@gmail.com.
See below for a list of some past projects that our amazing students have completed at EHHOP. We have numerous additional projects ongoing, and will update this page as current projects are completed! For other SRFCs or researchers interested in learning more about any of these projects, please feel free to reach out to us to learn more.
